Born in New Zealand, Linley Eathorne left her homeland at age 21 and spent many years living in different European countries; in England, France, Italy, Scotland and Germany. Her careers have ranged from stage and voice-over actress, language teacher, acting coach, theatre director, event organizer, National Public Radiobroadcaster, to photographer and digital artist.

After photography studies in the 1980’s, at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada, the visual arts became Linley’s central focus. Initially she worked in black and white photography, producing abstracts and portraits. When she moved from Scotland to Los Angeles in 2000, both the form and focus of her work changed. Immersion into the radically different world of vibrant Southern Californian colors and extraordinary diversity jolted her into a new awareness. This, coupled with the new digital processes emerging at that time, enabled a freedom of expression she had never imagined possible and soon she was producing abstract painterly pieces in vibrant colors.

Some of Linley’s digital paintings are meditations on metaphysical themes reflecting her personal journey. There is a sense of straining towards transformation and change; of all the particles being in a flux and flow ...changing and transforming at an energetic subtle level.

Many of her works remain more photographic and figurative, but in all her art there is a prevailing celebration of the power of color.
