So what is this thing art?

Some words I've collected which try to describe IT.

-A way to expand our own experience and existence. It has to do with essences, like poetry.

-A meaningful rendition of the human condition, and it tends to make life more bearable.

-Art encompasses beauty or harmony, skill, and a connection to the soul.

-It is when someone transforms something into a form that can itself transform us, if we allow it.

-Art is rooted in contemplation or "deep seeing" and that is where it leads.

in any other way.

-Fundamentally art is art if the artist says it’s art. However, people and intellectuals sense and recognize real art through an intuitive sense.

-Ayn Rand says that "art has a specific nature, derived from the conceptual nature of human consciousness. That art serves as a vital psychological need. Through art, man is able to integrate and concretize his deepest and widest metaphysical abstractions, his fundamental values, so that they can be grasped directly, as if they were percepts."
